This is the Story of
Sandy

Age: 1 year old
Breed: Dachshund Mix
Weight: 15lbs

We received an email this afternoon about a Dachshund that was Owner Surrendered to CCAS after being hit by a car and the owners were not able to pay for the medical bills. The pic that they sent didn't look like the dog had anything wrong w/ her. I asked the shelter what the injuries were and they said to her eye. Odd that a car would injure a dogs eye... especially a small breed. What was she hit by a low riding race car?! Hmmm, not making since. A CCHS foster stepped up right away to take her in and just happen to be in the area at the time too so she was taken directly to our vet within 2 hours of being dropped at the shelter. Upon exam they found that her jaw is broken and needs to be wired shut. The vet says the incident is not consistent w/ a car injury at all. She was likely kicked or hit with something (smaller than a vehicle). Her eye has a 50/50 chance of recovering as she does have min activity in the eye still. She goes in for surgery on Monday and will be "drinking through a straw" until her injuries have healed. Say a prayer for this little girl to make a full recovery and whom ever did this to her to get their just deserve. If you would like to make a donation to her care, you can do so by visiting our home page and clicking on the donation link.

Despite her injuries, she is all wiggly sweetness and wags her tail non stop. She is very friendly and does great w/ dogs, cats and kids of all shapes and sizes. She will have her jaw wired and spay on 6/13. She looks like a mini lab!

Stay tuned for updates on this sweet girl
